On June 22, the first AxTrax 2 electric drive axle produced by the BAIC Foton–ZF joint venture officially rolled off the line in Jiaxing, marking a strategic leap from conventional transmissions to electrified powertrain core components. Built on a 930V silicon-carbide inverter platform with 210 kW continuous output and 26,000 N·m peak torque, the integrated e-axle replaces the engine, gearbox, driveshaft and differential in medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Since the partnership began in 2017, the joint venture has accumulated RMB 20 billion in sales, and this new milestone accelerates China's push toward a 50% NEV penetration rate for commercial vehicles by 2030.
